Boiler Service / Collective Bargaining? http://www.oxleywoodsliving.co.uk/forums/discussion/648/boiler-service-collective-bargainings Wed, 01 Dec 2010 22:39:51 +0000 chrisl 648@/forums/discussions
As we're fast approaching our first anniversary here, I realised I'd best get our boiler serviced to maintain the Wimpey warranty.

Can anyone recommend a good heating engineer? I've spoken with both sets of neighbours who are in the same boat and we are up for a collective offer of 3 boilers needing the same service to see if we can get a discount. Anyone else interested? We ought to get the service done by Christmas.

Is there anything else that we could pursue for collective bargaining? Window cleaning perhaps? Ecohat servicing? Green electricity?

(I did have half a thought about whether we could offer the estate as a testing ground for smart electricity meters but colleagues at work tell me the meters will probably be rolled out on a company-by-company basis rather than via a more sensible area-based approach.)]]>

As a residant on Lorre Mews I am getting a little anoyed with looking out the front of my property to see a HUDGE oil spill in the road, it leads around the whole Island in Lorre Mews and looks terible. I am waiting on a call back from the housing associantion who own the other half of my house but I am not sure if its there responsibility our that of TW... How the spill got there I do not know, poss a current residant our friends car? It seems to come into Lorre Mews from Swanson Drive around the island the its left a massive puddle shape spill at the bottem.

Any advice on this matter has any one else tried to do something about it? if it was a residants car or a friend of a residant in which case I would be greatfull if you could speak to your/their insurance company and asked them to help with the clean up cost?

How can you get oil of brick any way is it possible?]]>
There's a mouse loose about this house http://www.oxleywoodsliving.co.uk/forums/discussion/879/theres-a-mouse-loose-about-this-house Sun, 11 Mar 2012 08:29:59 +0000 Matthew158 879@/forums/discussions Hi there - just wondering if anyone else have little visitors in the shape of mice? We've had some since the very cold weather a few weeks back and have been trying to get rid of them since. It seems like they have burrowed through the polystyrene under the ground floor and now go from floor to floor via the panels in the bathrooms.

We've had to use traps, poison and sonar plugs plus considered trading the dog in for a cat - be warned they are persistent little things!

Night-time toilet trips. Particularly if you have a little boy (yes, I'm blaming my Son ENTIRELY).  Anyway, enough of the unsightly details. I recently bought some LED lights online, and they arrived today.

WOW is all I can say. Amazing improvement in lighting. Bright, powerful, instant-on, low-power. No downside at all (save for the cost!!).

I bought mine from LED Hut, excellent service, seemed like the best price, CE marked etc: http://www.ledhut.co.uk/gu10-smd-led-spotlight-5050-320-lumens-50watt-equiv.html

Highly recommended.

Prices were decent, £4 a foot for "regular" trees, £6 a foot for Nordman Firs (which apparently keep their needles better). You just wander around, find a tree you like, and they'll chop it down for you, or apparently they will uproot it if you want a re-usable one.

Was great picking a fresh local tree like that. :)]]>

Secondly, there's been some code tweaks to the pages outside the forum (homepage etc). Please take a look and let me know if things are broken or look odd.

Specialist Eco Home Insurance! http://www.oxleywoodsliving.co.uk/forums/discussion/798/specialist-eco-home-insurance Fri, 26 Aug 2011 03:26:39 +0100 LeanneT 798@/forums/discussions Hi all,

Hopefully all of you would have received a letter I posted last month regarding home insurance? Just a little update to let you know that I have had a positive response but there is still a lot of people that have not enquired as yet. Please take 5 minutes from your day to give me a call and introduce yourself - I am your neighbour and it would be nice to say hello too!

I  have found very competitive rates and have negotiated a great discount as a reward for having an eco home. I have lived on Welles Lane with my partner since November 2007 and believe we should be rewarded for our unique homes. If you have any doubts, it is a free quotation and the least you will get from it is being introduced to another friendly neighbour.

Hopefully I will hear from you soon.
